How many hours am I required to work on the public in a clinical setting and can I earn money while doing this?

 

The state requires 300 hours of hands on practice, which are done when I am on the premises. You will likely have the opportunity to get more than the required hours. You can earn money while doing these hours as well. You make 32% - $21/hr plus tips.

Will my license be valid to use in other states?

​

If you plan on moving sometime in the future you will want to check the rules and regulations with the state/area you are planning on moving to. Every state has different requirements. Generally, 1000 hours is more than enough to cover the requirements of most states.​

What kind of payment options are there?

​

You can pay it all up front or make monthly payments (up to 16 monthly payments). You could also put some money down and then pay some monthly as well. The first months payment is also a deposit to hold your spot and is not refundable if you decide to not continue the program. Funding opportunities may be available. 

​

What If I decide the program is not for me and I want to discontinue?

​

Both you and I have the right to end the agreement in writing if we decide it is not a good fit for either of us. If you do for some reason need to terminate the training within the first 30 days, I will keep the first payment and refund all other tuition that has been paid. If you decide to terminate anytime throughout the year after the first 30 days, I will refund the prorated amount after what has already been paid to that specific date.

Where do you get the materials for the training?

​

I use a curriculum that has been pre-approved by DOPL (Department of Professional Licensing). You will need this before applying with DOPL. You are required to buy books ( 3 total). I have many optional books available for you to check-out. Some of them you may want to purchase to refer back to, as they are a great resource. A lot of information is also now available on a Google classroom setup.

About how many hours a week would this program require of my time? 

​

Expect to work approximately 20 hrs each week. Study time versus clinical time will vary week to week. We will have a set weekly schedule. Some online work can be done at your own pace during the week, as long as the assignments are finished when requested.

Are there additional fees?

​

Yes....

​

• Application fee with DOPL- $65

• Completion Application- $90 

• MBLEX test to get your license once you have completed your hours of training- $265

• Curriculum- $250

• Books (only 3 required and any additional ones you want for your own resources)- $180

• CPR training- $55

• Student insurance for the year- $65 

 

You may also need to buy extra supplies along the way. I do provide some but there is a limited amount.

All fees are up-front fees except the licensing and test fees which are paid once you complete the training. These fees are not included in the tuition cost and are subject to changes.

About Me (Your Main Instructor):

I've been working in the field since 1997. I have worked for chiropractors, salons, spas and owned my own practice most of that time. I have lots of teaching experience from teaching dance, yoga and infant massage for years. I am super passionate and I'm excited to share my knowledge. 

​

Other massage therapist instructors come in to teach modalities that I do not specialize in. So you’ll learn from other professionals in the field to gain different perspectives.

​

You will also go on field trips to experience various holistic treatments such as: ifloat therapy, hyperbaric chamber, cryotherapy, etc.

​

You will also have the opportunity to learn anatomy in a real cadaver lab.

​

Again, the ability to earn while you learn through your hands on clinic hours is a rare opportunity that most students do not have. Imagine having most of the program paid off, before you even have your license!

I tend to add more options along the way. You will obviously learn some of these in more detail than others. You can then decide to further your education in specific areas you’re interested in when you finish the training. You will leave the training with enough knowledge to offer a basic service for most of these but some you will just be exposed to them to know they exist. You will also get to experience a variety of self-care experiences included in the training cost. Self- care is a must to be effective in this field long-term. I can teach you the best practices for longevity in this career.

How long does the average massage therapist last in this field?

 

The average career life of a massage therapist is 5-7 years. I can teach you the best practices for longevity as I have over 25 years experience. Self care practices are a must, so this information is included in the program as well.

Are there supplies that you provide? 

​

I provide 1 pump bottle and 1 bottle holster. These can be taken home and used but need to be brought back for classroom time and clinical hours. I will also provide sheets, face rest covers, carrier oil, essential oils and other related supplies for education and clinical hours that can be used during the training. If you want more of these supplies or you want to try different options you will need to provide them yourself. I provide a massage table to practice on but it is not yours to keep. I don't include a massage table because the one you want may depend on what you want to specialize in. I also have pens and some paper to use while you are here but you may want to bring your own.

Are there supplies that I need to provide?

A massage table will be provided at my space during the time that you are being trained and practicing clinical hours that will stay at my place of business. If you want to have one of your own you will need to buy that for yourself. You will need to supply your own extra supplies if you want more than what I offer or you want to try different supplies.
